We are thrilled to unveil the latest additions to our suite of features for community groups – Private Channels and Channel Emojis. These innovative features, compatible across both mobile and web versions, offer improved privacy and customization to enrich your community experience.
New Features
Private Channels:
At last, one of the most anticipated features has arrived. You now have the capability to create private channels within community groups to ensure specific content remains exclusive. Both group admins and owners can establish new private channels or transition existing public ones to private.
How to Use:
- For a new private channel, initiate by creating a new channel and activate the private channel switch. For an existing one, open the channel settings, navigate to the settings tab and select the option to change to a private channel.
- Once the channel has transitioned to private, revisit the channel settings and select the ‘members’ tab. From there, you can add members to the channel. The option is also available to assign a member as a channel manager, providing them with admin access exclusively to that particular channel.
Things to note
- The creator of the channel and the owner of the group will automatically assume the role of channel managers in the newly formed private channel.
- A channel manager operates much like an admin for that specific channel, making group roles like group admin redundant within a private channel.
- The owner of the group cannot exit a private channel.
- A private channel will remain hidden from the channel list to those who are not a part of it.
Channel Emojis:
Further personalization is now possible with the introduction of Channel Emojis. This feature allows you to select an emoji as the icon for a channel, adding a unique and fun dimension to your community.
